Human Rights Campaign enthusiastically endorses Dennis

From HRC:

The Human Rights Campaign enthusiastically endorses Rep. Dennis Kucinich for Congress in the March 6, 2012 Democratic Primary in Ohio's 9th District. Kucinich has been a stalwart supporter of equality for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, and has consistently earned 100% on HRC’s Congressional Scorecard for his entire tenure. Dennis Kucinich's exemplary record includes:

  • Kucinich was one of the first Members of Congress to support equal marriage rights for same-sex couples.
  • Kucinich is the only candidate who is a cosponsor of the Respect for Marriage Act, which would repeal the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act.
  • Kucinich is the only candidate who is a cosponsor of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would outlaw workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity and expression.
  • Kucinich is the only candidate who has cosponsored the Uniting American Families Act, which would allow same-sex, bi-national couples to sponsor their partners for immigration purposes, like married couples can.
  • Kucinich opposed Ohio’s Constitutional Amendment to ban equal marriage in 2004, twice voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment, and has spoken out against Proposition 8 in California.
